The Therapeutic Shift
A spiritual approach to psychotherapy
“No one can do our spiritual work for us. The spiritual journey is taken alone. But as we grow we are able to reach out to other from a position of inner strength. Miraculously, the strength attracts to our lives people and situations that enrich us, challenge us, and spur further growth. So, although we must do the work by ourselves, we are never alone. Along the way we meet fellow journey-takers. These people enter our lives and stay for varying lengths of time. When the time is right, and we’ve learned what we can from one another, those people move on.”
That Perception Thing! by Dawn Brown
For psychotherapy to be effective we must have a little willingness to see and do things differently. Someone once said that if we keep doing things the same way we’ve been doing them, we will get the same results we’ve been getting.
If there is pain, inner conflict, or a desire to allow more joy into your life psychotherapy can help you to: define your concerns, expose the blocks, obstacles that keep us stuck in self-defeating patterns of behaviour, consider options and alternatives, and move through fear in order to take action.
Perception Shift offers a safe, empathic environment for clients to identify and talk about their emotions and in the process discover new approaches to problem solving. We can’t always change the events in our lives but we can choose to change our perceptions of these events.
Typical client issues:
- Creating healthy relationships
- Dealing with life transitions (changing careers, coping with a new environment, retirement, endings and beginnings)
- Growing through the periods of uncertainty and change that are part of daily living
